Photos released this week show the damage to a Florida home after parts of a private Learjet 60 tore through the roof and came to rest in the kitchen, more than a kilometer from where the aircraft itself crashed.

The plane went down Sunday near the town of Greenacres, Florida, killing all nine passengers and crew on board.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), significant pieces of the aircraft separated in flight and were recovered between two and six kilometers from the main crash site. Among the debris: three components from the tail's control mechanism.

NTSB spokesman Thomas Chapman said the findings are critical evidence in the investigation, but at this stage it remains unclear whether the parts broke off and caused the loss of control, or whether they separated as a result of extreme forces acting on the aircraft during its descent.

The Learjet was en route from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it began losing altitude at an abnormal rate and crashed into a residential area. Among the dead were businessman Adam Robinson, his wife, their two young children, friends traveling with them, and the flight crew.
