Trump to Hold National Security Meeting on Iran; New Iranian Proposal Falls Short of U.S. Red Lines

President Trump is meeting with his National Security team today to review a secret new proposal from Tehran. Despite Trump calling the offer "much better," White House officials warn that Iran is still refusing to surrender its "nuclear dust."

President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with his top national security team today to discuss the ongoing situation with Iran, according to two U.S. officials cited by ABC News.

The meeting comes amid a fragile ceasefire and stalled diplomatic efforts following the cancellation of planned talks in Pakistan. Trump recently described a fresh proposal from Iran as “much better” than previous ones, which arrived shortly after he called off a U.S. envoy trip to Islamabad.

However, ABC News reporting and White House signals indicate that Iran’s latest offer does not meet Washington’s core “red lines,” particularly regarding:

U.S. officials remain skeptical that current Iranian negotiators can deliver a deal acceptable to the Trump administration, while maintaining pressure through the naval blockade and military posturing in the region. abcnews.com

The national security meeting, expected in the Situation Room, will review the latest proposal, assess the impact of ongoing sanctions and blockade, and weigh next steps in diplomacy or potential escalation.
