President Donald Trump issued a statement via social media regarding ongoing diplomatic efforts with Tehran, characterizing current negotiations as "orderly and constructive" while contrasting his approach with past U.S. policy.
Trump sharply criticized the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), calling the Obama-era accord "one of the worst deals ever made by our country" and claiming it provided a "direct path" for Iran to develop nuclear weapons. In contrast, Trump asserted that the current framework being hammered out by his administration accomplishes "exactly the opposite."
According to the President, U.S. negotiators have been instructed "not to rush into a deal," stating that "time is working in our favor." Trump emphasized that the current blockade enforced against Iran will remain "in full force and effect" until a final agreement is officially reached, verified, and signed by both parties.
"Both sides need to take their time and do it right," Trump stated. "There must be no mistakes!"
