As speculation mounts over a potential U.S. strike on Iran, delayed reportedly at the request of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the U.S. military is advancing additional forces to the Middle East, according to a Fox News report. At least one aircraft carrier is already en route, with air defense systems expected to follow shortly, in a move described as preparation for various contingencies.U.S. officials told Fox News that the deployments include assets from sea, air, and land, set to arrive in the region "over the coming days and weeks."

These reinforcements will bolster the approximately 30,000 American troops currently stationed under U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), along with three destroyers and three amphibious warships already operating in the area. The air defense systems aim to protect U.S. bases and allies, including Israel, amid heightened threats.

It remains unclear which carrier is heading to the region: the USS Abraham Lincoln, currently in the South China Sea, or one of two carriers that departed earlier this week from San Diego, California, and Norfolk, Virginia. In either case, the transit is expected to take at least a week.

A senior U.S. official characterized the moves as a "force posturing process" designed to provide President Donald Trump with military options should he decide to act against Iran's ayatollah regime. "The military is preparing and planning a range of options for U.S. action, depending on Iran's moves in the coming days," the official said. They added that any potential operation ordered by Trump would be "different and more offensive" in nature.

The developments follow Trump's recent NBC interview, where he declined to confirm or deny plans for a strike, stating, "I'm not going to tell you." White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt has reiterated that all options remain on the table, warning of severe consequences if Iran resumes killing protesters.

In Israel, officials are monitoring the situation closely, with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir emphasizing readiness during recent drills.
