Violent Anti-ICE Protests Erupt in Los Angeles, Palestinian Flags Seen Amid Clashes

Chaos gripped downtown Los Angeles for a third consecutive day as protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids turned violent, with rioters clashing with police and National Guard troops. Demonstrators, some waving Palestinian and Mexican flags, set vehicles ablaze, threw rocks and Molotov cocktails, and blocked the 101 Freeway, prompting authorities to declare an unlawful assembly.
The unrest began June 6 following ICE operations targeting undocumented immigrants, with raids at locations like the Garment District and a Westlake Home Depot. Protesters, including some wearing Palestinian keffiyehs, were filmed torching cars and attacking law enforcement, with graffiti reading “F— ICE” and “Death to ICE” appearing across the city.
President Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops, a move criticized by California Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass as a “chaotic escalation.” At least 27 arrests were made, with injuries reported among officers and protesters.
Local officials urged calm, while Trump labeled the rioters “insurrectionists,” threatening further military action if unrest persists.
