Resurfaced: Alan Dershowitz Calls Obamas 'Bad People' in Podcast Interview
Alan Dershowitz, once an Obama supporter and Harvard professor to both, now calls the former first couple “bad people,” claiming Barack Obama’s “true self” emerged after 2012 reelection

In a clip from an August 2025 episode of The Adam Carolla Show that has recently gone viral on X, renowned attorney and former Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz delivered sharp criticism of former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
The segment, originally aired during a wide-ranging discussion that also touched on Jeffrey Epstein and political divisions, resurfaced on February 13, 2026, sparking heated debates online
Dershowitz, who taught both Obamas at Harvard University Law School, described a shift in his perception of the couple. "I don't like them either," he told host Adam Carolla, agreeing with Carolla's sentiment that the Obamas are "bad people."
He recalled Michelle Obama (née Robinson) as "very radical" during her student days, while portraying Barack Obama as initially "middle-of-the-roader."
However, Dershowitz claimed that after Obama's reelection in 2012, "his true self came out," adding, "He's not a nice person. He's smart, very smart. But he's not a nice person."
The comments stem from Dershowitz's personal interactions with the Obamas, including social events and an invitation to the White House for the Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony honoring Israeli leader Shimon Peres. Despite these past ties, Dershowitz was an early supporter of Obama's 2008 campaign, he expressed disillusionment, echoing broader conservative critiques of the Obamas' post-White House activities.
