Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak recently spoke about his controversial past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, the Jewish-American businessman who was convicted of sex crimes and suspected of pedophilia before his death by suicide in prison in 2019.

In an interview with The New York Times, Barak was asked directly whether Epstein had ever attempted to arrange for a woman or a minor for him. Barak issued an emphatic denial, stating unequivocally, "No, never."

The former Prime Minister went on to express deep remorse for ever having been associated with the disgraced financier. "I now deeply regret having any association with him," Barak stated during the interview.

Focus on Social Gatherings

Barak offered details about the nature of their interactions, which he insisted were limited to social and business gatherings. According to Barak, the extent of their relationship involved attending breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Epstein's residence in New York.

He sought to normalize the meetings by emphasizing the company present, stating that these gatherings were attended by "respected American public figures."

Barak stressed that his involvement with Epstein ceased immediately once he became aware of the nature of the financier's criminal behavior and his "inappropriate behavior." He asserted that he maintained distance from the illegal activities, adding, "I certainly never participated in anything like that."

The remarks come as public scrutiny remains focused on all high-profile individuals who maintained ties with Epstein, particularly given the gravity of the sex crimes committed. Barak’s statement aims to clearly define the limited scope of his interactions with Epstein, firmly severing himself from the allegations of sexual misconduct.
