In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Iranian ballistic missiles struck the Kirya military complex in Tel Aviv, the central command hub of the Israel Defense Forces - often compared to the U.S. Pentagon.

Multiple long-range missiles penetrated Israel’s layered air defenses, delivering a direct hit to a building inside the Kirya compound. The impact caused substantial damage, as confirmed by foreign correspondents reporting from the scene.

The strike was part of a broader Iranian retaliation following reported Israeli operations targeting Iranian nuclear sites and high-ranking commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In total, roughly 150 ballistic missiles were launched toward Israeli territory over the course of the night.

“A Block Wiped Out”

Ground reports describe a grim aftermath at several impact zones. In one neighborhood, an entire block was reduced to rubble, with rescue teams combing through the debris for signs of life using thermal imaging equipment.

At one point, international media crews had to seek shelter in residential buildings as sirens blared and explosions rocked the city. The force of nearby impacts was strong enough to shake buildings, underscoring the intensity of the assault.

Despite the presence of Israel’s robust multi-layered missile defense network - including Iron Dome, David’s Sling, Arrow, Patriot, and U.S.-deployed THAAD systems - several missiles evaded interception.

Observers noted that these advanced ballistic missiles dwarfed the threat level of previous rocket attacks from non-state actors, comparing their destructive power to battlefield-grade munitions rather than smaller rockets seen in past conflicts.

War Expands

Israeli defense authorities have stated that additional Iranian attacks are expected, and the nation remains on high alert. With both military and civilian sites hit, the confrontation between Iran and Israel appears to be entering a new and highly dangerous phase.

“This marks the beginning of what could become a prolonged and unpredictable conflict,” one security analyst noted. “We are likely witnessing the start of something much larger.”
