US on High Alert as Middle East Tensions Escalate
U.S. Embassy to Boycott Israel Pride Events Under Trump’s New Global Directive
In line with the administration’s rollback of LGBTQ+ recognition, embassies worldwide were instructed to suspend participation in Pride-related activities.

The United States Embassy in Israel will not take part in this year’s Pride parades or LGBTQ-related events, following a firm policy shift under President Trump. According to internal communications reviewed by Haaretz, the directive, sent to all American embassies globally, reflects the administration’s updated diplomatic priorities.
The embassy clarified its stance to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, stating: “In light of the Trump administration’s priorities, the U.S. Embassy will not host or engage in LGBT-related programming.” The acronym used in official communication notably omitted the letters T and Q, reflecting the administration’s current terminology.
This policy change aligns with broader executive efforts, including a presidential order limiting transgender participation in women’s sports, and Department of Defense guidance reverting to biological sex markers for military records.
In past years, the embassy had provided visible support for Pride in Tel Aviv, even sponsoring floats. This year, it will remain absent, though other Western diplomatic missions, including those of Germany, France, Ireland, and Canada, continue to participate.
Supporters of the move see it as a return to values-based diplomacy focused on national priorities over symbolic activism.
