Qatar Faces Massive Accountability

Why Qatar Should Pay For Gaza's Cleanup and Rebuilding

Qatar, a longtime backer of Hamas, is under mounting pressure as Israel is forced to cover billions in Gaza cleanup costs. Experts highlight Doha’s financing of terrorism and call for accountability over the October 7 attacks and the resulting destruction.

On December 6, 2023 Arutz 7 reported "The Emir of Qatar on Tuesday accused Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza and hit out at what he labelled "shameful" international inaction over the Israel-Hamas war, i24NEWS reported.

"It is shameful for the international community to allow this heinous crime to continue for nearly two months, during which the systematic and deliberate killing of innocent civilians continues, including women and children," Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said at the start of a Gulf Cooperation Council meeting in Doha..."

On December 11, 2025 Yair Kleinbaum wrote in Jfeed "ISRAEL HUMILIATED: Forced to Pay Billions for Gaza Cleanup as Arabs Refuse... Jerusalem succumbs to US pressure, agreeing to foot the bill for clearing 68 million tons of debris, while Qatar compares Israel to Russia and declares: "We won’t sign the check."

"A new report reveals a significant diplomatic and financial blow to Israel, as the US Administration has successfully pressured Jerusalem into accepting full responsibility for the physical and financial clearing of debris in Gaza, a move flatly rejected by Arab nations.

"While the US demanded Israel pay for the cleanup, the Prime Minister of Qatar publicly humiliated Israel in an interview with Tucker Carlson. Comparing Israel to Russia, he declared, "Just as Moscow is expected to repair Ukraine, Israel must rebuild Gaza," adding that Qatar "will not sign checks to repair what someone else destroyed." The following day? Washington handed the order, and Israel capitulated..."

Qatar funded Hamas. Qatar must pay for the damage done by Hamas terrorists on October 7 and for the costs of war.

On March 17, 2024 Arutz 7 reported "Oren Barnea, secretary of the Vegetable Growers Association and a member of Saad's first response team, warned on Sunday, in an interview on the Kalman Lieberman program on Kan Reshet Bet, of irreversible damage caused to the agriculture around the Gaza Strip, and told how Hamas terrorists were engaged in destroying agriculture on the morning of October 7...

"...there were groups of terrorists going over the faucet lines, destroying all the water pipes, thrashing the fertilizer tanks, setting fire to buildings, and irrigation pools, and destroying the infrastructure of the local agriculture..."

On October 20, 2023 the Atlantic reported "As Israel and Hamas sink deeper into conflict, Doha finds itself in a delicate position. As a long-standing backer of the Muslim Brotherhood, Qatar has huge influence over the movement’s Palestinian affiliate, Hamas. That offers a significant opportunity in the short run. Doha’s deep connections with the Gaza-based Islamist group make Qatar a central player in the current diplomatic game. But for exactly the same reason, Doha faces the looming risk of being called to account over its record of support for such radical Islamist groups, and especially for Hamas.

On October 26, 2023 Con Coglin wrote in the Gatestone Institute "The hundreds of millions of dollars the Qataris have given Hamas during the past decade have been instrumental in helping the terrorist group to develop the infrastructure that enabled it to carry out its murderous assault on Israel in the first place."

Qatar not only finances Hamas, it also provides refuge to its leaders. On October 11, 2023 the Wall Street Journal reported "Two former senior U.S. security officials called for military action against Hamas leadership allegedly being provided safe haven in Doha if Qatari authorities don’t hand the officials over to the U.S. or Israel. Ismail Haniyeh, president of the Hamas political bureau sanctioned by the U.S. under terror powers, allegedly oversaw from Doha the group’s strike against Israel over the weekend. Those responsible for orchestrating the attacks “are operating in plain sight and within reach in the hands of our purported major non-NATO ally Qatar,” said Mark Wallace, a former U.S. representative to the United Nations and head of the New York-based United Against Nuclear Iran. “We should not hesitate to act militarily on Qatari soil to bring to justice Ismail Haniyeh and Hamas leadership,” Wallace said. Frances Townsend, a top counterterror adviser to George W. Bush and head of the non-profit Counter Extremism Project, also joined the call for action. Neither representatives for Qatar in Washington nor the State Department immediately responded to requests for comment..."

It's pretty simple, really. Qatar funded Hamas. Therefore, Qatar must pay for the damage done by Hamas terrorists on October 7 and for the costs of war.
