The Israel Defense Forces has disclosed details of an unusual operational incident that occurred recently in Gaza, in which an airstrike targeting a Hamas-linked objective was called off at the last moment, even after the munitions had already been released and were en route to their target, due to the presence of civilians in the vicinity.

According to information released by the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, the strike was launched against a target associated with Hamas's military wing in the Gaza Strip. However, after the munitions were already in the air and seconds away from impact, military observers identified a gathering of civilians near the strike zone. The airborne ordnance was diverted from its trajectory in the final moments before it would have hit its intended target.
