Netanyahu's right-wing split may cost election

Channel 13's Michael Shemesh warns that while Gantz's exit consolidates the opposition, the prime minister faces a bigger problem: five small right-wing parties bleeding tens of thousands of votes below the threshold

Political Analyst: Netanyahu's Failure to Unite the Right Could Cost Him the Election

Benny Gantz's announcement that he is withdrawing from the race for Knesset has drawn relief in parts of the opposition, where the move is seen as preventing a catastrophic loss of mandates below the electoral threshold. But Channel 13 political analyst Michael Shemesh is pointing to the other side of the aisle, warning that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces an organizational failure on the right that could prove decisive.

He drew attention to the many small parties still running on the right side of the political map. He listed the long roster of factions hovering at or well below the threshold: Amcha Yisrael, HaTzibur HaCharedi, Achi, Noam, and Tzeva Shachor.

"We're talking about tens to hundreds of thousands of votes!" Shemesh warned, pointing to the clear danger for the ruling camp. According to him, while the center-left is executing moves and withdrawals to minimize risk, the right remains deeply fractured in a way that could lead to massive vote loss at the ballot box.

Shemesh summed up the picture and noted that Netanyahu's inability to unite forces or bring about the withdrawal of the small parties could be the deciding factor of the entire election campaign.
