Just another NY Shabbat
WATCH: Shocking Antisemitic Protests Rock Crown Heights
Crown Heights reels as Jewish families face slurs, indecent exposure, threats, and disruption.

On Shabbat in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, a hostile antisemitic mob surrounded the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway, unleashing a barrage of abuse at Jewish families.
A mother walking with her eight-year-old child was subjected to a vile sexual taunt.” The crowd also hurled slurs like “kike,” and one person exposed themselves in public. Shockingly, New York Police Department officers at the scene failed to intervene against the attackers, instead forcing Jewish bystanders to leave. Witnesses described the event as an open hate crime, with community members expressing outrage over the lack of police action to protect them.
In a separate incident a day alter (Sunday afternoon) a small group of antisemitic protesters gathered across from the Chabad-Lubavitch Headquarters during a Siyum Sefer Torah ceremony held in memory of Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky. The demonstrators, holding Palestinian and black-and-white Puerto Rican flags, signaled affiliations with anti-Israel and Black Lives Matter movements.
They displayed signs referencing alleged victims of law enforcement brutality, such as George Floyd, and demanded an end to “racial and religious profiling.” The New York Police Department responded quickly, with officers redirecting the protesters toward Nostrand Avenue, away from the synagogue, to prevent escalation similar to a previous anti-Israel protest in the area last month, according to the Shmira neighborhood patrol.
These back-to-back incidents have heightened fears among Crown Heights’ Jewish community, who are calling for stronger police protection and accountability to address the rising tide of antisemitic harassment.
