Antisemitic Vandalism Defaces Israeli-American Council Headquarters in Los Angeles

Nazi symbols and hate messages were found defacing the Israeli-American Council headquarters in Los Angeles, prompting police investigation and community response.

In a disturbing act of hate, the Israeli-American Council’s (IAC) national headquarters in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, was defaced with antisemitic graffiti over the weekend. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local Israeli-American and Jewish communities.

According to IAC representatives, multiple swastikas and Nazi emblems were spray-painted across the sidewalk, building entrance, and adjacent barriers near the Shepher Community Center, home to the IAC’s Los Angeles offices and a vital community gathering space. Among the hateful slogans was the phrase “F— Jews, BDS,” conveying a clear message of bigotry.

Most notably, a yellow swastika accompanied by the letters “SS,” alluding to the infamous Nazi Schutzstaffel, was scrawled directly in front of the community center’s entrance on Winnetka Avenue. A swastika was also painted on a cardboard snowman positioned near the building. Additional hateful markings were discovered on barriers near the nearby Highway 101 freeway and other locations surrounding the facility.

The Shepher Community Center plays a crucial role as a cultural and communal hub, providing programming and services to the Israeli-American and Jewish populations in the region.

Law enforcement officials from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Topanga Community Division are actively investigating the incident. Surveillance footage has reportedly captured images of a potential suspect, which police are currently analyzing.

Elan S. Carr, CEO of the IAC and former U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, expressed profound condemnation of the attack:

“This blatant act of hatred on the doorstep of our community is deeply troubling. The surge in antisemitic incidents nationwide is alarming, but we remain resolute in combating this hatred. This cowardly act will only strengthen our commitment to safeguard our community and uphold the values we cherish.”

The IAC affirmed its dedication to combating antisemitism and pledged to intensify efforts to ensure the safety and resilience of the community.
