A young Israeli tourist was violently attacked this week on the popular Khao San Road in Bangkok after being asked where he was from, according to multiple reports and an official Israeli government alert.

The victim told Israeli journalist Daniel Amram that two men confronted him, and the moment he answered “Israel,” they began punching and kicking him while shouting “Free Palestine” and “we don’t like Israel.”

The attackers were described as Spanish-speaking. A friend nearby alerted security, allowing the Israeli to escape back to his hotel. He was not seriously injured.
