Veteran Israeli actress Rivka Michaeli, one of the country's most iconic cultural figures, has become an increasingly vocal critic of the Israeli government. In a recent interview with Maariv, the 87-year-old performer stated that if she were living in Europe today, she would join protests against Israel. “Of course I would protest,” she said. “Anti-Israel sentiment around the world is justified.”
Michaeli, who rose to fame over decades of work in film, television, and theater, has emerged as a prominent voice in the wave of public demonstrations opposing the government's controversial judicial overhaul. Since the October 7 Hamas attack and the subsequent war in Gaza, she has also taken part in protests calling for the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
