Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook and CEO of Meta, is no stranger to major deals, but his latest real estate purchase has surprised even the luxury market. Official documents published in Ireland reveal that Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, paid no less than €51.17 million, approximately $56 million, for Strancally Castle in County Waterford.
When news of the estate purchase first broke last August, real estate market sources estimated its value at between €20 and €30 million. The figure now disclosed is significantly higher than those projections, and it may not even reflect the total cost of the estate.
According to the Irish Times, the sum recorded in the official property transaction registry refers only to the main house and up to approximately four acres of land. The entire estate spans some 1,780 acres, meaning the total amount the couple paid could be considerably higher. For now, the full price remains undisclosed.
