Six Years of Silence: New Arrests in the Brutal Murder of Evyatar Azerzer
Police have arrested three suspects, including two already serving time for murder, in connection with the 2019 killing of 18 year old Evyatar Azerzer, whose body was found in a pit near Morasha Junction.

A long standing cold case that haunted the community of Bnei Brak has seen a dramatic breakthrough as Israel Police arrested three suspects for the murder of Evyatar Azerzer. The 18 year old's body was discovered on December 27, 2019, inside a pit in an open area near the Morasha Junction, ending a three week search for the missing teen. Detectives from the Tel Aviv District's Central Unit have spent six years piecing together the events that led to what they describe as a "Red Cape" trap, a term used in the criminal world for a lure into a fatal ambush. The suspects, all residents of Bnei Brak in their 30s, are now facing charges for the planning and execution of the brutal killing.
A Tragic Turn of Events
The investigation revealed that two of the suspects were already behind bars, serving sentences for a different "exceptionally cruel" murder committed in 2020. The third suspect was apprehended in Bnei Brak on Sunday morning. Azerzer’s story is one of a young man who strayed from a religious path into a dangerous environment. After leaving his family home in Jerusalem and moving to Bnei Brak, he stopped his studies at a Yeshiva and began seeking a living through questionable channels. Friends of the family described him as a smart and beloved boy who simply found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, eventually becoming entangled with criminal elements to make money.
Police believe Azerzer was lured to the open field near Ramat HaSharon under false pretenses before being murdered and discarded in the pit. For years, the case remained without a lead, but recent investigative advancements allowed the police to lift the gag order and move forward with the arrests. The three suspects are scheduled to appear before the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court tomorrow, where the police will request an extension of their detention. For the Azerzer family, who have waited over half a decade for answers, these arrests represent the first real step toward justice for the son they lost to the criminal underworld.
