Today (Tuesday), an Israeli military court delivered a landmark verdict, sentencing Mohammed and Watskar Shantir to life imprisonment plus an additional 50 years for the brutal murder of Bat Sheva Nagri in a terrorist shooting attack near Beit Hagai in August 2023.

The court further ordered the two terrorists to pay 3.4 million NIS in compensation to the victims of the attack.

The attack, which took place on August 21, 2023, claimed the life of Bat Sheva Nagri, a resident of Efrat, and left another individual seriously injured. According to the indictment, the defendants meticulously planned the attack months in advance, coordinating with Hamas operatives to obtain weapons and funding.

Armed with firearms and three fully loaded magazines, they targeted an Israeli vehicle carrying Nagri, her young daughter, and another passenger. The assailants unleashed a barrage of approximately 28 bullets, resulting in Nagri’s death at the scene and severe injuries to the other occupant.

In its ruling, the military court emphasized that the attack was driven by ideological and nationalist motives, necessitating a stringent punishment to reflect the severity of the crime.

The decision to impose life imprisonment, an additional 50 years, and substantial financial penalties was in line with the military prosecution’s demands, which were accepted in full.

The IDF issued a statement reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding the residents of Judea and Samaria and ensuring that justice is served against those who threaten their security. The IDF also expressed deep condolences to the family of Bat Sheva Nagri and pledged ongoing support for the victims of the attack.
