Peace agreement on the way? Unprecedented Israeli-Iranian cooperation.

"Tatami" is a political thriller that takes place during the World Judo Championship. Iranian judoka, Leyla (Arian Mandi), and her coach Maryam (Zar Amir Ebrahimi), receive an ultimatum from the Iranian authorities instructing Leyla to fake an injury and lose, or risk being labeled a traitor to the state. Leyla faces an impossible choice: obey the Iranian regime as her coach Maryam pleads with her to do, or fight for the gold and put herself and her family in danger. The film also stars Jamie Ray Newman and Lir Katz ("The Commandant").

The film's creator, Guy Nativ, shared his experience in creating the film and said, "To collaborate with Zar Amir Ebrahimi as a director and Elham Arfani as a screenwriter was a unique experience. I am thrilled that this is the first collaboration between Israeli and Iranian creators, and that we were accepted to the prestigious Venice Film Festival. It's a dream come true and a real opportunity to give a voice to Iranian women who fight every day against the oppressive regime in their country."
