In a profound gesture of solidarity, the iconic Niagara Falls was illuminated in orange last night to honor the memory of the Bibas family, who lost their lives during the events of October 7. The tribute, which coincided with Israel's Memorial Day and a visit to Canada by a member of the family, served as a moving reminder of the young lives lost. The city of Niagara Falls, Ontario, initiated the gesture to commemorate four-year-old Ariel and nine-month-old Kfir Bibas, as well as their mother, Shiri, who were murdered while held in captivity by Hamas terrorists.

The decision to light the falls was championed by Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati, who sought to demonstrate Canada’s support for the victims and their grieving family. The visual display, captured by photographer Shaked Paz, turned the massive waterfall into a beacon of mourning and remembrance, attracting attention both locally and internationally. The orange lighting was chosen to honor the two young redheaded brothers, becoming a poignant symbol of innocence lost.

This gesture is part of a broader international effort to keep the memory of the victims alive and to stand in support of the State of Israel during this difficult war. For the family of the victims and the many Israelis who participated in the ceremony from afar, the sight of the falls provided a moment of shared grief and international recognition. The tribute stands as a testament to the fact that even across oceans, the impact of the atrocities committed on October 7 continues to resonate, uniting people in their commitment to remembering those who can no longer speak for themselves.
