Omer Adam Opens Up: The Spiritual Journey That Led Him to Keeping Shabbat
Israeli pop star Omer Adam opens up about the spiritual journey that led him to fully embrace Shabbat observance, revealing how disconnecting from the pressures of fame brought him balance, family closeness, and deep personal tranquility.

In a heartfelt and revealing interview, Israeli music sensation Omer Adam shared the personal reasons behind his decision to embrace full Shabbat observance according to halacha.
Speaking to "Shabbat for All Reasons," the singer, known for his chart-topping hits and electrifying performances, described how the demands of his high-pressure career pushed him toward a life of spiritual balance and tranquility.
Adam, 31, explained that over the past two years, he has committed to keeping Shabbat without TV, phone, or driving. "I think it introduced a kind of balance into my life," he said. "Today, we're all in this crazy loop, everyone wants to succeed, to go far. We're a people always on the run."
For Adam, Shabbat became a sacred pause: "You suddenly put everything on mute. No phone. There are times when Shabbat ends, and I don't even want to turn it on. I say, 'Why? Let's continue another day - what fun!'"
The star emphasized how Shabbat reconnects him to his roots. "It's grounding," he reflected. "It brings you back for a moment. Suddenly, you're sitting with a book, I haven't read books in who knows how long. And now, I devour books on Shabbat. You sit with family, truly listening, hearing, talking. We've gotten used to not being present in any situation because the phone pulls you every minute, with all the Instagram notifications."
While Adam's family does not keep Shabbat, he credits the practice with strengthening their bonds. "With Mom, it really reinforced things, and the siblings too," he shared. "Mom is already much more... Mom brings people back [using] teshuva, and that's without keeping Shabbat. So all these things... I think in the end, it affects everyone around you, the close circle."
Summing it up in one word, Adam declared: "Shabbat is nachat" (tranquility).
Adam's story resonates deeply in the frum community, where Shabbat is the cornerstone of Jewish life. As one fan commented online, "Seeing a star like Omer embrace Shabbos inspires us all to hold on tighter to our heritage."
