Hand Grenade Discovered Near Vienna Synagogues
While the proximity to the synagogues raised initial concerns, officials have ruled out any connection to them based on current evidence. An investigation remains underway to determine the grenade's origins and how it came to be placed there.

Authorities in Vienna confirmed yesterday the discovery of a hand grenade at the entrance to a residential building on Tempelgasse in the city's Leopoldstadt district, a street that houses two synagogues, though police have emphasized no direct link to the religious sites or evidence of antisemitic intent.
The device, identified as an F1-model grenade from the 1970s, was found wrapped in white cloth by a synagogue employee. Vienna police stated it contained no explosives and featured a non-functional detonator, rendering it harmless and posing no immediate danger. Bomb disposal experts were called to the scene and safely removed the item.
