Suspicious Object Found at Rabbi Nachman's Tomb in Uman

Israeli police officers stationed in Uman received a report Thursday of a suspicious object in the square leading down to the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.

The Israeli officers immediately notified their Ukrainian counterparts. Upon arrival of reinforcements, Israeli and Ukrainian teams worked together to seal off the area, evacuate civilians from the vicinity, and allow a bomb disposal expert to handle and neutralize the suspicious object.

Police confirmed that no Israeli citizens were harmed. "The Israel Police team continues operational activity to maintain security and public order in Uman," officials stated.

Earlier Thursday morning, during operational activity by Israeli police in Uman, an Israeli citizen approached the officers with a child, reporting that he had found a seven-year-old boy who had lost his parents and contact with them.

Officers questioned the child thoroughly. According to police, the boy was very confused and frightened. After conducting all necessary procedures and questioning people in the area, the officers ultimately succeeded in locating the child's parents.

The incidents are taking place during the annual gathering of Breslov Hasidim in Uman ahead of Rosh Hashanah. Tens of thousands of Hasidim and visitors arrive each year in the Ukrainian city to spend the holiday at the gravesite of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.

During this period, Israeli police forces operate in Uman as part of a special deployment to assist the Israeli public visiting the site. The teams handle a variety of incidents and cases, including assistance with missing persons, dealing with emergencies, and maintaining order and security.
