US President Donald Trump issued a public endorsement of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu overnight Sunday, calling on Israeli voters to rally behind him on election day.
In a post on his social-media platform, the American president addressed the Israeli electorate directly, resharing the endorsement he had given Netanyahu the previous week.
He emphasized the close working relationship between the two leaders in the face of security threats in the region and on the international stage.
"To the citizens of Israel, for those of you who have not yet seen this --- I am attaching the endorsement I gave a week ago to your Prime Minister, Bibi Netanyahu," he wrote. "Everyone knows, including the enemy, that Bibi and I have an excellent relationship to win together."
"We must finish the mission"
He detailed the security dimension of the relationship, listing a series of unprecedented military and policy moves Washington has led over the past year: "I carried out the strike in Venezuela, one of the most successful military operations in history. Even before that, we executed Operation Midnight Hammer, which prevented the world's largest state sponsor of terror from obtaining nuclear weapons. Then we carried out Operation Epic Fury, and now Iran has no navy or air force, and its military and economy are in ruins."
Trump added figures on the severe blow dealt to the Tehran regime: "The naval blockade has prevented it from receiving oil, and two layers of leadership, military and civilian alike, have been eliminated. Inflation in Iran now stands at 301%."
Closing his message, the American president laid out a direct appeal to Israeli voters: "When you go to the polls, remember that Bibi is an exceptional fighting prime minister! Very bad people have called Israel 'the Little Satan' and the United States 'the Great Satan.' Never again should the call 'Death to America, Death to Israel' be heard around the world and it will not be heard."
The US president signed off with a call: "Vote for Bibi Netanyahu for Prime Minister. We must finish the mission we started!"
