Following an announcement from Saudi Arabia regarding launches originating from Iraq, the military spokesman for the Houthi rebels in Yemen, Yahya Saree, took full responsibility for another round in the quiet, ongoing war between the two sides. Saree stated that the group targeted sensitive points within the oil supply chain.This marks another chapter in the wearing conflict raging under the radar in the region.
Over the past month alone, Saudi Arabia and the Houthis have been engaged in an ongoing exchange of tactical strikes: Saudi forces targeting Houthi objectives from the air, followed by Houthi retaliation aimed directly at Saudi Arabia's vulnerable economic infrastructure.
Escalation in Strategic Drone Operations
According to Saree, the Houthis launched several drones targeting sensitive and strategic sites within the kingdom. These facilities are critical for the supply and transport of crude oil from eastern Saudi Arabia toward the port of Yanbu.
The Shia terror organization justified the strike, clarifying that it came as a direct response to what they described as "an invasion of Saudi drones into Yemeni airspace".
