Maritime Security Operations
A senior Iranian source quoted by local media warned that maritime traffic must strictly adhere to routes designated by Tehran. "As defined previously, the transit route through the Strait of Hormuz is the path set by Iran. Other routes are contaminated and lead to a dead end", the source said, adding that one ship was involved in an accident during an unauthorized attempt to cross.
On the American side, officials indicated that the pause in military operations was initiated after top defense leaders advised the president to halt the strikes. According to official sources, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine expressed growing concern over the depletion of air defense interceptor stockpiles, as well as a diminishing supply of high-value targets within Iran.
Economic and Regional Impact
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz stated that the pause was intended to allow space for potential diplomatic engagement, though deep divisions between the two nations remain unresolved. Following the announcement of the ceasefire, global oil prices dropped nearly 8% to below $90 a barrel.
The two-week campaign of intense U.S. bombardments resulted in dozens of casualties in Iran and widespread damage to critical infrastructure.
In response, Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes targeting American bases in the region, killing four U.S. military personnel and causing damage to civilian infrastructure across several Gulf states.
