The Gihon Corporation, Jerusalem's municipal water utility, announced Monday afternoon that several neighborhoods across the capital are experiencing water supply disruptions following a temporary shutdown of desalination facilities operated by Israel's Water Authority.
As of 3:00 p.m., residents in the Bukharian Quarter, Geula, Ramot Eshkol, Mea Shearim, and surrounding areas are facing water outages, the corporation reported.
In response to the crisis, Gihon has established public water taps throughout the affected neighborhoods to provide residents with access to drinking water. The precise and updated locations of these emergency water stations are available on the Gihon Corporation's website.
Gihon staff and Jerusalem Municipality officials have been coordinating since morning hours with relevant water sector authorities across the country. The corporation is urging the public to reduce non-essential water consumption, including refraining from filling private pools and watering gardens, until normal service is restored.
