Jordan's Foreign Ministry issued a formal condemnation on Monday of an Iranian attack targeting the United Arab Emirates, after an Iranian drone was intercepted over the country's territorial waters. The Jordanian statement comes after eight ballistic missiles launched from Iran toward American military bases in Jordan were intercepted overnight.
"Jordan condemns the Iranian attack against the United Arab Emirates, which was carried out using an unmanned aerial vehicle that was intercepted by air defense systems," the ministry said in its statement. "Jordan views this as a blatant violation of the UAE's sovereignty, a threat to its security, stability and territorial integrity, and a dangerous escalation. This also constitutes a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter."
The statement added that Jordan "affirms in its declaration its absolute solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, and stands by its side in any steps it takes to defend its sovereignty, security and the safety of its citizens residing in the country."
