Election Interference Claims

Bennett should be questioned: lawyer

Former Labor Party legal counsel calls for police investigation of ex-PM and others over alleged foreign interference in Israeli elections

Naftali Bennett

Attorney Daniel Cohen, former legal counsel to the Labor Party, called Thursday on Galei Yisrael radio for police investigations into several prominent figures over alleged foreign interference in Israeli elections.

"The way to fight this phenomenon is obviously to take down the people who are involved, whether out of interest, whether consciously or unconsciously, to bring them in for questioning at the Israel Police. Including Shlomi Eldar, including the editor at Haaretz newspaper, including Naftali Bennett," Cohen told host Mati Tuchfeld.

"To the extent that Shlomi Eldar at least pointed at him, then he needs to come in and needs to be questioned. This is something that could sway elections in the State of Israel in order to serve foreign interests, interests of Israel's enemies, and this thing cannot pass quietly," Cohen said.
