Hamas Security Chief Capture: Photo Confirms Al-Arabi Arrest

Following initial reports of the capture of Moein al-Arabi, head of Hamas's General Security apparatus, the terror organization denied the claims, insisting he had not been arrested. On Tuesday, however, a photograph was released showing the senior operative at the moment of his detention, confirming the success of the unusual operation deep inside Gaza.

Al-Arabi is considered one of the most senior Hamas figures in the Gaza Strip and among the most influential operatives in the organization's activities there. His role is roughly equivalent to the head of Israel's Shin Bet security service. He possesses intimate and extensive knowledge of all Hamas operations in Gaza and beyond. More significantly, he is a key figure in Hamas's intelligence mechanisms and the repressive apparatus used to torture and interrogate Gazans who oppose the organization.

According to reports from Gaza, an armed Gazan militia operating in coordination with the IDF carried out the initial assault. Published footage shows the group entering Gaza City on motorcycles in an attempt to capture the senior operative, which developed into an intense firefight.

Hamas initially denied the operation's success, claiming there had only been a failed assassination attempt against the senior figure. Later, however, the organization issued another statement calling on world nations to condemn the action. "We call on the American administration and mediating countries to condemn the crimes of the occupation and to act immediately to stop its violations and obligate it to implement the clauses of the ceasefire agreement," the statement read. "We demand that the international community, especially the Security Council, take urgent steps to stop the occupation's crimes against civilians and bring those responsible to justice before international legal bodies."
