President Donald Trump denied reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had requested his endorsement ahead of Israel's 2026 elections, telling reporters that he issued both statements of support on his own initiative.
Trump addressed the reports in remarks to journalists before boarding the presidential motorcade, responding to a question about whether Netanyahu had asked for the additional endorsement that was released last night.
"No, we didn't talk about that," Trump explained. "I put out both endorsements of him myself. I just think he's done a great job, we're working together great."
The president's comments came after he issued a second public statement backing Netanyahu for reelection, following an earlier endorsement. Trump's remarks suggest the endorsements were unsolicited expressions of support rather than responses to requests from the Israeli premier.
