Imam of Peace Condemns Bondi Attack as Globalized Intifada

In the aftermath of the Islamic extremist attack at Bondi Beach, Imam Mohammad Tawhidi, widely known as the Imam of Peace, delivered one of the clearest and most forceful condemnations of both the violence and the ideology behind it.

Tawhidi rejected euphemisms and evasive language, insisting that the attack must be understood for what it was. “Let us be absolutely clear, the Bondi Beach terrorist attack is what the globalizing of the intifada looks like,” he said, warning that extremist rhetoric inevitably translates into real world violence. “What begins as chants and threats inevitably ends in blood.”

Drawing a sharp distinction between peaceful Muslims and Islamist ideology, Tawhidi argued that terrorism committed in the name of Islam must be confronted directly, particularly within Muslim communities. He described jihadist extremists as “enemies of all faiths,” stressing that their violence targets Jews, Christians, Muslims, and anyone who stands in the way of their worldview.

Tawhidi also expressed solidarity with the victims and with Australian society, emphasizing shared values such as the sanctity of life and the rule of law. At a time when many public figures hesitate to speak plainly, his remarks stood out for their moral clarity, offering a rare example of leadership that confronts extremist ideology without excusing it or hiding behind abstraction.
