Roi Konkol, former adviser to Yair Lapid and the fourth candidate on Benny Gantz's Blue and White party list, has sparked a storm on social media after a sharp exchange with left-wing protest activists.
The clash began when one activist wrote sarcastically: "Do you think the State of Israel will continue to exist if you don't pass the electoral threshold? I'm really worried about an immediate collapse if we don't see your light."
Konkol responded: "The State of Israel will be here long after you and me. You can continue with the cynicism, but when I was lying in Gaza and Lebanon, you dismantled the state, and there's no way in the world I'll let you do it again."
Another protest activist attacked Konkol over the remark: "Gantz's number two: the protest people dismantled the state. They've moved from Amit Segal's talking points to Yotam Zimri's talking points. They have another two weeks to get to treason from within and the spy from Southern Command."
