Hezbollah Chief Issues Defiant Warning

Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem delivered a stark and defiant message, warning that any future war would fail to achieve its objectives and vowing that the group would never lay down its weapons under pressure. “If war breaks out, it will not achieve its objectives, and that is clear to us,” Qassem said. Addressing the United States directly, the Hezbollah leader declared, “Let America know that we will defend ourselves. Even if the sky were to collapse upon the earth, we will not disarm to serve Israel’s goals, even if the entire world unites to wage war on Lebanon.” Qassem stressed that Hezbollah would not permit such an outcome, repeating his message for emphasis. “We will not allow this to happen. It will not happen,” he said. Invoking Shiite religious symbolism, Qassem concluded his remarks by framing the group’s stance as one of unwavering resistance. “We are the sons of Hussein,” he said, referencing Imam Hussein, a central figure in Shiite Islam associated with sacrifice and defiance in the face of oppression.
