The indoctrination process begins in early childhood. Reports from organizations like the IDF and UN-affiliated groups detail how Hamas uses formal and informal education to promote jihad and anti-Israel sentiment. Children's television programs, often featuring cartoon characters, have been documented to glorify violence and martyrdom, with some showing young boys aspiring to be engineers to "blow up the Jews." This messaging is often reinforced in school curricula, which can include the veneration of terrorists as role models.

A key component of this effort is the annual network of summer camps run by Hamas's military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Thousands of children, some as young as middle school age, are enrolled in these camps where they receive paramilitary training. This includes instruction in combat tactics, weapons handling, and tunnel warfare. Leaked documents and videos have shown young attendees undergoing physical training and simulations of attacks on Israeli soldiers. According to an internal Hamas memo uncovered by Israeli President Isaac Herzog, the camps' purpose is "to advance the resistance culture and the values of Jihad, standing strong, and sacrifice within the children."

These practices, which violate international laws against the use of child soldiers, are not only a part of Hamas's strategy but also reflect a deep-seated institutional commitment. While international bodies have condemned these actions, the network of indoctrination remains a powerful force in shaping the future of a "lost generation" in Gaza.
