Heartbreaking Tragedy in Beit Shemesh: 9-Month-Old Baby Boy Dies in His Sleep
A nine-month-old infant, Tuvia Meir Lederman of Ramat Beit Shemesh, tragically died after being found unresponsive in his crib. Emergency teams fought to save him, but he could not be revived. Baruch Dayan Emes.

An unimaginable tragedy struck the haredi community of Ramat Beit Shemesh G-2 today when nine-month-old Tuvia Meir Lederman, the infant son of Rabbi Zechariah Lederman of Rechov Ovadia HaNavi 14, was found lifeless in his crib by his parents discovered him early this morning.Medics who arrived at the scene found the baby with the pacifier cord wrapped tightly around his neck.
Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts by United Hatzalah volunteers and MDA paramedics, the infant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
United Hatzalah medics Pinchas Wasserman and Yitzchak Berman, the first responders on scene, said:
“According to the family, the baby simply didn’t wake up from his sleep. We performed extended CPR until the intensive-care ambulance arrived and continued the efforts while transporting him to the hospital in critical condition. Because of the nature of the incident, we also called in the Hatzalah mental-health trauma unit (Choshen) to support the family.”
MDA paramedic Oshri Edri added:
“The baby was unconscious, without pulse or breathing. We gave him prolonged resuscitation treatment, but sadly his condition never improved and we had to pronounce him dead.”Thanks to the swift efforts of local community activists, the baby’s body was released quickly for burial. The heartbreaking funeral of little Tuvia Meir Lederman is scheduled to take place later today at the Beit Shemesh cemetery.
