Hamas Orders Cell Phone Destruction

Internal security directive warns operatives that Israel can track locations, monitor calls, and surveil surroundings through mobile devices

Hamas's internal security apparatus has issued an urgent directive ordering operatives throughout the Gaza Strip to immediately stop using mobile phones and dispose of them without delay. The unusual warning reflects growing anxiety within the terrorist organization over Israel's surveillance and intelligence-gathering capabilities, as the IDF continues targeted strikes against field commanders and operational leaders across the coastal enclave.

The directive, published Sunday on the "Al-Hares" channel operated by Hamas's internal security mechanism, addressed operatives directly with a stark warning about the risks posed by mobile devices. "O guardian, your mobile phone allows the enemy to locate your position, listen to your conversations, and photograph your surroundings. Dispose of the mobile phone immediately to protect yourself and your brothers," the message stated.

To emphasize the urgency, the announcement was accompanied by an illustration showing a broken mobile phone being thrown into a trash bin.

Beyond demanding that operatives eliminate their mobile communication devices, Hamas's security apparatus called on members to "increase awareness and vigilance" and maintain strict operational discipline. The organization warned operatives not to underestimate any behavior, routine, or circumstance that could expose them and make them the next target of Israeli Air Force and IDF strikes.

Among other measures, the directive recommended that operatives completely avoid using social media platforms and adopt a series of preventive security measures. The goal, according to the message, is to deny Israeli intelligence any opportunity to locate their positions.
