Chilling: Hamas Chief Kept Hostage Photos on His Phone
Before October 7 massacre, al-Haddad personally ordered the kidnapping of soldiers, claimed responsibility for all hostages, and complained about IDF attacks in Gaza.

Israeli and Arab sources claim that the commander of Hamas's military wing, Izz ad-Din al-Haddad, keeps photos of Israeli hostages on his mobile phone and even slept in a hideout apartment with one of them, as reported by Israel Hayom.
Al-Haddad was the commander of the Gaza City Brigade before the October 7 massacre. Following the eliminations of senior military wing leaders during the war, including Mohammed Deif, Marwan Issa, and Mohammed Sinwar, he initially became responsible for the northern Gaza Strip and later assumed command of the military wing.
A day before the October 7 massacre, al-Haddad held a secret meeting with subordinate commanders in the terror organization and delivered an operational document that included instructions to kidnap numerous IDF soldiers.
According to the report, a released Israeli hostage met al-Haddad five times during captivity, sometimes sleeping in the same hideout apartment. During their first meeting in March 2024, al-Haddad entered, sat on the floor next to two hostages, and asked in Hebrew, “How are you?”
Later, al-Haddad told them he was responsible for all hostages in Gaza, pulled out his smartphone, and scrolled through photos of various hostages, including some later identified by the released hostage.
Al-Haddad would ask if the hostage needed anything and once instructed terrorists to bring a book the hostage had left at a previous hideout. On another occasion, al-Haddad hid his face and complained about Israel’s attacks. The former hostage later learned that one of al-Haddad’s sons, a Nukhba terrorist, had been eliminated.
