Houthis Declare War on "Israeli Presence" in Somaliland

While the world’s eyes remain fixed on the northern border and Gaza, a new threat is emerging from Yemen that seeks to redraw the map of the conflict. Houthi rebel leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi dropped a bombshell statement today (Thursday), marking a new strategic target: Somaliland.

In a belligerent speech, al-Houthi declared that his forces have intensified intelligence monitoring of all Israeli movements in the Horn of Africa region. He issued a direct threat, stating, "We will strike any base or Israeli presence in Somaliland."

According to the rebel leader, the Houthis are already deep in the "preparation phase for the next round" of fighting. He characterized a direct confrontation with Israel and the United States as an unavoidable destiny.

"The confrontation is inevitable," al-Houthi asserted, signaling that from Sana'a's perspective, the conflict is no longer limited to maritime routes or missiles aimed at Eilat.

This declaration has raised alert levels regarding strategic shipping lanes and Israeli interests abroad. By explicitly naming Somaliland, an autonomous region in the Horn of Africa, the Houthis are signaling a willingness to expand the theater of war to the African continent.

Security officials in Israel are reportedly monitoring this new development closely. The threat suggests that the Iranian-backed militia considers any Israeli foothold in Africa a legitimate target for their arsenal of ballistic missiles and UAVs (drones).

This comes as global powers struggle to contain Houthi aggression in the Red Sea, adding yet another layer of complexity to regional security challenges.
