An Israeli brigade commander was seriously injured on Wednesday morning during an explosive drone attack in southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced.

Colonel Meir Biderman, the commander of the IDF’s 401st Armored Brigade, was wounded alongside two other soldiers when an explosive-laden drone struck a structure in the southern Lebanese village of Debel around 8:00 a.m.

According to military details of the incident, the drone managed to breach defensive anti-drone netting before detonating against the facade of the building where the soldiers were positioned. Colonel Biderman and the other personnel were struck by shrapnel.

The IDF stated that a reserve officer sustained moderate injuries in the attack, while a reserve soldier was lightly wounded. All three were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and their families have been notified.

Colonel Biderman assumed command of the 401st Brigade in October 2024. He took over the leadership role following the death of the previous brigade commander, Colonel Ehsan Daqsa, who was killed in action during combat operations in Jabaliya.
