Ready for the "Breaking Event": Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir Issues Warning from Stealth Base

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir conducted a high level strategic review at the Nevatim Air Base in southern Israel on Wednesday, focusing on the military’s readiness for what he described as a "breaking event." Accompanied by the Head of Staff of the Air Force, Brigadier General Gilad Keinan, and the commander of the base, Colonel D., Zamir inspected the latest advancements in Israel’s aerial superiority. The visit took place just days after the Israeli Air Force (IAF) integrated three additional F-35I "Adir" stealth fighter jets, bringing the total number of these advanced aircraft in service to 48. During his address to the pilots and aircrews, Zamir emphasized that the operational experience gained over the last two years of war has prepared the military to confront and decisively overcome any challenge across the Middle East.

Strategic Readiness and New Capabilities

The integration of the new Adir aircraft marks a significant milestone in the IDF’s ability to project power over long distances. Zamir made it clear that the IAF remains the primary strategic arm of the nation, capable of moving from defensive to offensive operations in an instant. "The Israeli Air Force is the IDF’s strategic arm," he said during the visit. "Over the past two years of combat, you have been on the front line of both the offensive and defensive effort in near and distant arenas." He noted that the cooperation between the IAF and the Intelligence Directorate allows for continuous strikes throughout the region to remove imminent threats and protect Israeli citizens.

The Chief of Staff specifically addressed the readiness of the aircrews for a "breaking event," a term used to describe a sudden and significant escalation in military activity. He highlighted that the military is constantly evolving its tactics based on the lessons learned from the twelve day war with Iran that occurred in June. "You accumulated operational experience unparalleled anywhere in the world, and we will draw lessons from it and employ it to ensure the security of the State of Israel at all times," Zamir told the gathered personnel. He emphasized that the military is not merely maintaining its status quo but is actively improving its capabilities to achieve victory in the overall campaign against regional enemies.

A Mission for Global Security

As regional tensions persist, the message from the Nevatim Base was one of total preparedness and proactive defense. Zamir reiterated that the responsibility of the military is to be ready for any scenario, whether it involves local terrorists or distant state actors. "We will know how to strike powerfully in any arena against any enemy that threatens the security of the State of Israel," he warned. The addition of the new stealth jets is seen as a crucial component of this mission, providing the IAF with the tools necessary to penetrate advanced air defense systems and operate undetected in hostile territory.

The visit concluded with a focus on the future of the IAF as the ultimate guarantor of Israeli security. Zamir noted that the expansion of the F-35 fleet is part of a multi-year plan to reinforce the strategic arm of the IDF. "We are prepared for a range of scenarios and are continuously improving our capabilities in order to achieve victory in the overall battle against our enemies, this is our responsibility and our mission," he stated. With 48 Adir jets now operational, the IDF intends to maintain its qualitative edge and ensure that any threat to the home front is neutralized before it can materialize.
