In a decisive operation earlier today, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), guided by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), eliminated a terrorist believed to be responsible for the brutal murder of Tze’ela Gez, a 30-year-old pregnant Israeli woman, in a shooting attack near Bruchin, Samaria, on Wednesday night. The operation, conducted in the village of Burqin near Bruchin, also resulted in the arrest of another Palestinian Authority Arab suspected of involvement in the attack, which left Gez’s husband wounded and their unborn child to be delivered via emergency C-section who is now in moderate condition. The IDF’s manhunt, ongoing since the attack, culminated in targeted searches that underscored Israel’s relentless pursuit of justice for its citizens.

A joint IDF and Shin Bet statement detailed the operation: “As part of the IDF and Shin Bet’s manhunt for the terrorist who carried out the shooting attack in which Tze’ela Gez, of blessed memory, was murdered, targeted searches were conducted by IDF fighters under Shin Bet guidance in the village of Burqin, adjacent to the attack site.” On Saturday morning, several suspects were apprehended. During one arrest, a terrorist was spotted running toward IDF forces while holding a backpack suspected of being booby-trapped, shouting “Allahu Akbar.” Responding to the immediate threat, soldiers neutralized the terrorist on the spot. No IDF injuries were reported, and the suspect’s identity is under verification to confirm his intent and connection to the attack.

The investigation, led by the Shin Bet and Israel Police, remains active, with the IDF stating, “The inquiry into the terrorist attack is being led by the ISA and the Israel Police and remains ongoing. The IDF, ISA and Israel Police will continue to operate in order to protect the civilians of Israel.” Earlier efforts in the manhunt included a Thursday operation in Tamun, where Duvdevan special forces eliminated five suspects and arrested one after an exchange of fire, uncovering three M-16 rifles and four vests. The IDF noted that these terrorists were advancing “significant military terrorist activity.”

In a related operation, undercover Border Police from the Judea and Samaria District arrested three armed terrorists in Tubas, seizing six M-16 rifles, a handgun, a grenade, and ready-to-use explosives. These actions highlight the pervasive threat in the region, where terrorists exploit villages like Burqin to plan and execute attacks. The elimination of Gez’s killer marks a critical step in dismantling terror networks and providing justice to the families affected by such horrific attacks.
