Israeli singer and songwriter Bar Tzabari, who has achieved major success in recent years in the Israeli music industry, has opened up about his deep connection to religion and Judaism, describing his way of life, his children's religious education, and a decision he recently made regarding Shabbos.
In an interview with journalist Raz Shechnik in Yediot Ahronoth, Tzabari, who grew up in a traditional home and absorbed the foundations of song and piyut in the Yemenite shul in Hadera, spoke about the significant place Judaism occupies in his life.
"I'm connected to religion, I grew up in shul from my earliest days, the children go with tzitzis to a religious gan, Judaism is very important to me, I go to shul, I don't perform on Shabbos," the singer said.
Tzabari also shared a decision he made in recent months to disconnect from his phone during Shabbos, in order to enjoy quality time with his children and family: "In recent months I decided to put the phone aside before Shabbos comes in, I recommend it to everyone, absolute time with the children and the family, you feel like you got a brain massage, even without connection to religion."
Later in the interview, the singer was asked whether he consults with rabbanim, and revealed that he attends Torah shiurim and even turns to rabbanim with halachic questions: "There are rabbanim I really like, I go to them for shiurim and can sometimes ask their opinion, but more on halachic matters."
