A senior Israeli source speaking to Axios said today (Sunday) that Israel will not launch its now approved plan to expand IDF operations in the Gaza Strip until President Donald Trump finishes his planned trip to the Gulf states and Saudi Arabia.

According to the source, Israel will allow for efforts to try and secure a deal with Hamas over the hostages and disarmament until then, and during Trump's visit, the tens of thousands of reservists being called up will be trained and prepared for the offensive.

Earlier today, the government unanimously approved broadening the war against Hamas, though it is unclear how far the IDF will go. Prime Minister Netanyahu reportedly opposed taking over the whole Gaza Strip rather than additional parts of it, in the face of opposition from his more hawkish members.
