Today we bid farewell to Joshua Boone, a lone soldier, a fighter, and a hero of the Jewish people.
Josh dedicated hundreds of days of his life to the defense of the State of Israel. He lived as a fighter, served as a fighter, and will be buried as a fighter, even if the official authorities have failed to grant him the recognition he deserves.
We cannot hide our profound disappointment with the defense establishment. The decision not to officially recognize Josh as a fallen soldier is painful, unjust, and wrong. It does not reflect the reality of his service, his sacrifice, or the ultimate price he paid.
Even now that the funeral has been scheduled, this injustice is far from over. The fight for Josh’s recognition will continue, before, during, and after the burial. His family, friends, and community will not allow this chapter to close in silence.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to everyone who has worked tirelessly on Josh’s behalf, to those who stood by him, fought for him, and refused to look away. Your support means more than words can say.
We invite you to join us in honoring Josh’s life and mourning this profound loss to our people.
