IDF opens an investigation after 19-year-old lone soldier Cpl. Benjamin Vais from Canada was found lifeless in southern Israel. Funeral to be held in Beit Shemesh.

IDF Lone Soldier Ben Vais (19) Passes Away

The Israel Defense Forces announced that a soldier was found lifeless yesterday morning in southern Israel.

The soldier has been identified by the Tzofim Garin Tzabar program, an organization that assists young immigrants enlisting in the military, as Cpl. Benjamin Vais, 19. Vais was a lone soldier who immigrated to Israel from Canada. He served in the Givati Brigade and resided in Kibbutz Shluchot, located in northern Israel.

Investigation Opened

The IDF Military Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Vais’s death. Upon completion of the probe, the findings will be forwarded to the Military Advocate General’s Corps for review.

Funeral Details

Cpl. Benjamin Vais will be laid to rest today in Beit Shemesh.
