BREAKING NEWS: IRAN LAUNCHES MAJOR ATTACK ON ISRAEL: 100 Iranian Suicide Drones En Route to Israel
A storm is unfolding over the Middle East. In what could become the region’s most dangerous escalation in years, Iran has unleashed a massive wave of drones and missiles toward Israel in a calculated, multi-layered assault. With skies igniting across Iraq, Syria, and Jordan, and global powers now airborne in defense, the world teeters on the edge of a broader conflict.

Iran has initiated a large-scale aerial assault on Israel, deploying a combination of drones and missiles in a coordinated attack, escalating tensions in the Middle East to a critical level. According to Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and open-source intelligence (OSINT) reports, the attack began with the launch of approximately 100–200 Shahed-136 suicide drones, identified from images over Iraqi airspace. These drones, known for their low cost and long range, take roughly seven hours to reach Israel, with an estimated arrival time between 1:45 PM and 2:15 PM IDT.
Iran is expected to follow with cruise missiles approximately two hours before the drones’ arrival, as these take about two hours to reach their targets. Ballistic missiles, which have a 15-minute travel time, are anticipated to be launched just before the drones arrive, creating a layered attack strategy. Unconfirmed reports suggest the total number of launches could be as high as 800, though this figure awaits verification.
Israeli and American fighter jets are airborne, actively intercepting threats. British Royal Air Force jets have deployed from bases in Cyprus to assist, with reports of interceptions occurring over Syrian airspace. Jordan has reportedly opened its airspace to allow Israeli jets to counter incoming drones. Additionally, Saudi and Qatari air forces are said to be in the air, potentially contributing to the defense effort, though their specific roles remain unclear.
Foreign reports indicate numerous drone interceptions in Syrian skies, with British jets actively engaged. There are also claims of Iranian missile launches targeting U.S. bases in Iraq, prompting air raid alarms at several American military installations. If verified, this could draw the United States into direct intervention.
The Israeli Defense Minister recently stated, “There is no goalkeeper at the Iranian gate, the window of time is not unlimited, we must act this year,” signaling Israel’s readiness for decisive action. Meanwhile, an Iranian security source told Reuters that Iran is preparing a “harsh response” to Israel’s strikes, indicating potential further escalation. Iranian state media claimed all of Iran’s S-300 air defense systems, critical for intercepting ballistic missiles, have been destroyed, potentially leaving Iran vulnerable.
This attack follows a pattern of Iranian retaliation, similar to the April 2024 assault where Iran launched over 300 drones and missiles in response to an Israeli strike on its consulate in Damascus. That attack saw a 99% interception rate by Israel and its allies, including the U.S., U.K., France, and Jordan, with minimal damage reported. The current assault is in response to recent Israeli strikes, including those targeting IRGC leadership and Iran’s missile infrastructure.
