Katz says Iron Beam laser system Israel's "weapon of the future"

Defense Minister Israel Katz celebrated the operational success of Iron Beam, a laser-based anti-projectile system today (Wednesday), calling it the "weapon of the future" for Israel.

"The laser system is the future weapon of the State of Israel. Upon entering my position, I directed to accelerate the development of the system and make it operational from an understanding and recognition of its vitality, and now it is already actually defending the country's skies and bringing exceptional operational achievements.

"The ability to turn a complex technological vision into operational reality within a short time is proof unparalleled to the power, quality and innovation of Israel's defense industries – among the best and most advanced in the world.

"The laser system provides Israel with an additional interception layer that is accurate, cheap and fast, which will change the rules of the game in the region and significantly improve the defense of Israeli citizens.

"Our enemies should fear not only the capabilities we have already developed, but also those we will yet develop.

"I congratulate all the dedicated people who took part in this achievement. Thanks to you, Israeli citizens are better protected."
