Tragic End to Weeklong Search: Missing Israeli Reservist Found Dead
Tragic discovery: Israeli reservist Dmitry Shapiro, missing since last week, found dead near Rehovot, spotlighting the severe mental health toll on soldiers amid ongoing conflict.

After nearly a week of frantic searches, 34-year-old reservist Dmitry Shapiro from Kiryat Malakhi was discovered lifeless near Rehovot on Thursday, sending shockwaves through his community and highlighting the deepening mental health toll of Israel's ongoing conflicts, as reported by Walla.
Shapiro, a Ministry of Justice employee and dedicated soldier who fought on the front lines in the recent war, vanished last Friday evening after posting a heartbreaking farewell video on social media, expressing severe distress and suicidal intentions.
"Dmitry was a man of values, quiet and humble, who gave everything to his country," his close associates shared. "The salt of the earth in every sense." Police from Yavne station, aided by a helicopter, drones, and dozens of volunteers, scoured the area relentlessly. His vehicle was located earlier, leading to the grim discovery of his body near Nahal Kedron, close to the Paratroopers Memorial.
Authorities have ruled out foul play, pointing to the emotional scars of battle.
